05-25-2001 - Analyzed data at the Fredericksburg, TX library (very nice folks!). Good shear vectors, great turning, more 'sweet spot' lapse rates, and moisture further to NW that on the 24th. Headed W on 290 and I-10 with Ozona region as target. Deep convection observed off to the west. Spoke to Al Moller who was about an hour ahead of me on I-10 who confirmed that the convection visible to the west was coming off the Davis Mountains and thus much further west that I had estimated (one can see such great distances in the clear W TX air!). Convective cluster improved in appearance/organization as it moved SE towards Big Bend NP (cycling through some very pronounced overshooting tops). Hard convection was also observed to the S near P07. All the storms were out of reach and that was that!

Addendum: I found the ongoing proliferation of the 'big propeller type electric generating windmills' a real blight on the beauty of the the Fort Stockton region. I guess they could redo the painting on the cover of ZZ Top's "Tejas" album to include a few of these? And maybe add a few into some Frederic Remington pieces as well. Oh Well.
